Town Hall to Tackle How Urban Schools Can Improve Student Outcomes Amid Challenges
-
How schools can focus on student outcomes while navigating the many challenges they face will be the center of discussion at the Council of the Great City Schools’ town hall meeting on Oct. 24 in Philadelphia.
“Focusing on Student Outcomes in the Wake of National, State, and Local Challenges” is the theme of the town hall, to be held in conjunction with the Council’s 68th Annual Fall Conference, Oct. 22-26, hosted by The School District of Philadelphia.
The town hall meeting will be moderated by political analyst Ana Navarro and feature a panel consisting of several education leaders.
They are Clark County School District Superintendent Jhone Ebert; Jackson Public Schools Superintendent Errick Greene; Rhode Island Commissioner of Education Angélica Infante-Green; Minneapolis Public Schools Superintendent Lisa Sayles-Adams; Washington Superintendent of Public Instruction Chris Reykdal; School District of Philadelphia school board member Joyce Wilkerson; and Myniah Cruz-Jenings, a 9th-grade student at Fels High School in Philadelphia.
Navarro will also deliver the keynote address at a luncheon during the conference. Other guest speakers will include award-winning actor Giancarlo Esposito and television and radio host Michael Smerconish.
The five-day conference will be held at the Philadelphia Downtown Marriott.
