Education Secretary to Address Urban School Leaders at 2023 Legislative/Policy Conference

U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona will address urban education leaders at the Council of the Great City Schools’ Annual Legislative/Policy Conference, March 18-23, at the historic Mayflower Hotel in Washington, D.C.
Cardona is the nation’s 12th U.S. Secretary of Education. Before becoming education secretary, Cardona served as Commissioner of Education in Connecticut. He began his career in education as an elementary teacher.
Topics to be discussed at this year’s conference include federal education funding for the 2023-2024 school year, Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) spending in the Great City Schools, and congressional action on K-12 education.
