NY Times Columnist Thomas Friedman to Discuss "The Future of Education"

  • In the wake of the challenges urban school districts face due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Pulitzer Prize-winning New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman will participate in a timely discussion on “The Future of Education” at the Council of the Great City Schools’ 64th virtual Annual Fall Conference.

    Friedman will be joined in the session by Eric Gordon, chief exectuive officer of the Cleveland Metropolitan School District; Brenda Cassellius, superintendent of Boston Public Schools; Sonja Brookins Santelises, chief executive officer of Baltimore City Public Schools; and Deborah Gist, superintendent of Tulsa Public Schools. The session will be moderated by Council Executive Director Michael Casserly.

    Friedman joined the New York Times in 1981 and has served as the newspaper’s foreign affairs columnist since 1995. He is the recipient of three Pulitzer Prizes and author of six bestselling books, among them The World is Flat: A Brief History of the Twenty-first Century and From Beirut to Jerusalem.
