Milwaukee Teacher Receives Twilight Award from Chance the Rapper

  • Margaret Roushar, a first-grade teacher at Parkview Elementary School in Milwaukee, was recently selected to receive the Twilight Award presented by Grammy-award winning artist and education activist Chance the Rapper. Milwaukee Teacher with Chance the Rapper

    Presented during Teacher Appreciation week, the award recognized 10 teachers across the nation who show dedication, originality, and creativity in helping their students thrive.   

    Roushar has taught in Milwaukee Public Schools for 11 years and was selected to receive the award for helping her students during the COVID-19 pandemic. She used her government stimulus money to send care packages that included small games and learning tools to all of her students.

    On behalf of Box Tops for Education, Chance the Rapper surprised award recipients via Instagram with supplies and donations. The winning teachers received $15,000 for themselves and $15,000 for their schools.
