  • Michell Yorkman is Manager of Conferences and Partnerships at the Council of the Great City Schools, where she is responsible for the planning and logistics for the Council’s Legislative/Policy Conference and several job-alike meetings. In addition, Michell oversees the recruitment for sponsors, plans the content for the Annual Fall Conference and serves as the staff liaison to the Council’s Great City Colleges of Education, an affiliate group of deans working with urban school leaders.

    Prior to joining the Council, she was the Director of Client Education at Suited for Change, Washington, DC, a nonprofit organization helping unemployed and underemployed women achieve economic independence.

    Michell holds a master’s degree in social work from Boston University and a bachelor’s degree in English from Emory University.

    FUN FACTS: Michell likes to travel, exercise, and attend concerts and musicals as well as go on hikes with her son.
