Cindy is the Manager of Governance Services and a governance coach for the Council of the Great City Schools (CGCS). She served two four-year terms, 2011-2019, on the Des Moines Public Schools Board of Directors where she was a board officer for six of those eight years. She successfully led the DMPS Board to adoption of its first student outcome goals.
Cindy was a member of the CGCS’s “Team Rogue” – a group of school board members and superintendents whose collective research and experience resulted in the development of the Student Outcomes Focused Governance© (SOFG) framework and was a CGCS Green Garner Award finalist in 2015.
She is a certified SOFG Coach and a graduate of Govern for Impact’s Policy Governance© Proficiency Program.
Cindy founded the non-profit, Iowa Kidstrong, Inc. in 2005 when her now adult sons, Sam and Lars, were in pre-K and elementary school which is still offering free programming to elementary school youth in Des Moines and surrounding areas.
FUN FACTS: Cindy has completed a couple of marathons, including the Boston Marathon.
