• Next Generation Assessments

The Council of the Great City Schools has been actively involved in sharing information about draft assessment frameworks posted by the two consortia. Members responded in writing and via conference calls so that the Council could combine their feedback to influence final versions of the frameworks. The  assessments  that are created using these frameworks will measure student mastery of the Common Core State Standards. They will utilize computer-based and performance assessment items. The Council will continue to keep members informed about progress with next-generation assessments.

Partnership for Assessment of Readiness and College Careers (PARCC)

The PARCC Model Content Frameworks reflect the real-life experiences of educators and students.  As such, PARCC has recommended that they be used by educators for the remainder of SY 2011-2012.  PARCC solicited feedback on the Model Content Frameworks during spring 2012, and a refined version was issued to incorporate feedback.

The Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC)

The Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC) content specifications are designed to assess the full range of the Common Core standards along a learning continuum, from which test blueprints and item/task specifications will be established.  This learning continuum will reflect an anticipated path, of how student learning will typically move toward increased understanding over time with good classroom instruction.
