In voicing its proposals and ideas to Congress and other federal policymakers, the Legislative Department helps shape legislation to strengthen the quality of schooling for the nation’s urban children. The Legislative Team also holds a Legislative/Policy Conference each March for the membership to discuss recent developments in federal legislation and funding and to advocate the policy positions of urban public schools. In addition, the Team promotes Great City school district legal interests in the federal courts and provides legal networking opportunities for the membership.
