  • Let's Move - A nationwide campaign led by First Lady Michelle Obama to tackle the challenge of childhood obesity by giving parents the support they need, providing healthier food in schools, helping kids become more physically active and making healthy, affordable food available in every part of the country.

  • 24 Challenge Math Program -- A program targeting students in grades four through eight, which offers a fast-paced mental arithmetic game to improve math and reasoning skills.


  • National Student/Parent Mock Election -- A voter education project to help educate urban school students about the importance of the right to vote and the electoral process, encouraging civic engagement.

  • National Wildlife Federation Schoolyard Habitat Program -- A program inspiring students, educators and parents to learn about nature, wildlife and the benefits of regular outdoor activity for physical and mental health. 

  • Miss Maryland International 2009 -- College student Katie Meadowcroft, who will reign for a year on a platform titled "Enriching Lives Through Education: Bridging the Urban Gap," is a volunteer at the St. Ambrose Family Outreach Center in Baltimore, where she tutors and mentors students from low-income families.
