Denver Public Schools seeks a Security Operation Commander to provide leadership, command, coordination and management of the, 24 / 7, Operations Division, within the Department of Safety and Security under the direction of the Chief of the Department. This position may serve as the designated second in command of the department, at the discretion of the Chief of the Department. The Department provides, 24 / 7 year round security services to the students, staff, visitors, and physical assets of the District. This division consists of the uniformed and armed patrol and the central communications and alarm center.

Required Education; Associates Degree in Criminal Justice, Business, Management, or related discipline from an accredited college or university.Preferential additional education; Bachelor Degree from an accredited college or university in related discipline; Completion of a P.O.S.T. Academy, F.B.I. National Academy, ASIS, or similar law enforcement / security / management training; Experience / Skills; Minimum of ten years of civilian or military law enforcement, or security operations supervision and management. Preferential education will be considered in lieu of up to 3 years of experience; Must be able to qualify and obtain a State of Colorado concealed weapons permit and meet requirments to obtain Special Police Officer status from the local law enforcment agency.Background Screening: Pre hire Psychological testing;Pre hire and follow-up random drug testing;Criminal History background - pre-hire and annual drivers license check (must be able to meet the Districts insurability standard)
